This upgrade has been a council vision for many years, and adds to our attractiveness as a great place to live, work, play, learn and invest. The terminal building will double in size, and greatly improve the passenger experience through the construction of expanded departure and arrival lounges, baggage claim areas including a carousel, and upgraded services like air-conditioning.
Our airport is an important gateway to our region, and the upgrade allows us to increase air services, and cater for the growing number of tourist and business visitors that are expected in the coming years.
We’re working hard with other levels of government to make sure our region receives the investment it deserves, so that right now and for generations to come, our community continues to thrive. To see the plans visit pmhc.nsw.gov.au/airport-upgrade
Stuart Park makeover
In what is great news for our whole community, the popular Stuart Park in Port Macquarie will undergo some fantastic upgrades.
Council and the state government will invest $4 million into the development of the park and its sporting infrastructure to provide premier recreational facilities that will benefit a range of sports, and can be accessed by all ages and abilities.
A new 1.8km perimeter walking track, multi-purpose netball and basketball courts, upgrades to change rooms and lighting, a new playground, BBQ facilities and an off-leash dog park are all part of the plan.
A big thanks to the state government for working with council to provide funding for the upgrades that will offer great health, social and economic benefits to our region for many years to come.
