This year’s Mayor’s Sporting Fund Trivia Night will be held on Friday 29 June at the Port Macquarie Surf Club, Flynns Beach and is a great social event that raises funds for our local up and coming sports stars.
The Mayor’s Sporting Fund was established in 1999, and since its inception has raised more than $300,000 to give a boost to locals who are pursuing their passion for sport.
Tickets are on sale now at pmhc.nsw.gov.au/events, so why not register your team, challenge your sporting knowledge and help us raise some much needed funds for our future sporting stars.
Changing faces of our community
Last week I had the pleasure of hosting an Australian citizenship ceremony, where 15 members of our community took the oath and became Aussies.
Our new mates hail from all over the world including England, Thailand, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Philippines.
As our region’s population grows, so does the social fabric of our community, and we’re seeing people from all over Australia and overseas come to live in the Port Macquarie-Hastings and share their culture, skills and experiences with us.
How lucky are we to live, work and play in an area with so many opportunities, and I look forward to seeing how our region changes in the coming years, not only with new roads, buildings and public spaces, but also as a strong, inclusive local community.
G’day and congratulations to our proud new Aussies.
