The March 21 event was about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Charles Sturt University Port Macquarie international student Saru Shakya said Harmony Day was like a cultural exchange for her.
“Harmony Day presented our culture and how CSU has united everyone,” she said.
Saru swapped the Napalese capital of Kathmandu for Port Macquarie to further her accounting studies.
“As I belong to a Buddhist society, it taught me how to be peaceful and not differentiate people with religion or caste or country,” she said.
Saru said people in Port Macquarie were friendly and they smiled no matter what.
International student Neha Patel has been in Australia for seven months since arriving from India.
She said the people were lovely, the university was supportive and the environment was beautiful here.
Neha was in charge of henna painting during Harmony Day.
CSU international student Pooja Patel, from the Indian state of Gujarat, enjoyed Harmony Day at CSU.
“We exchange ideas and our culture in CSU,” she said.
Almost 3500 Harmony Day events took place around the nation.
