The information will feed into the development of the Flynns Beach Master Plan.
Development of the plan will consider the areas from the beach to the eastern curb on Pacific Drive.
Access to and from the shops and across Pacific Drive will also be considered in the plan.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council staged three pop-up sessions at Flynns Beach to get people’s input as part of the consultation process.
Council’s group manager recreation and buildings Liam Bulley said the community engagement sessions were really successful.
“It’s been a great engagement from local residents and also interest from visitors as well,” he said.
“Having community input at this point in the process ensures there is buy-in throughout the process and the implementation phase.”
Port Macquarie resident Susan Green wanted to know more about beach access from a new seawall.
An 80 metre section of seawall, between the surf club/kiosk and southern beach parking area, will be replaced this year.
Construction is planned to start in July.
The works will improve public safety and accessibility to the beach.
The project will include stairs, ramps, footpaths and handrails with the remaining sections of seawall to be prioritised for replacement within the broader master plan.
Ms Green also raised concerns about the nearby Pacific Drive pedestrian crossing.
“I suggested maybe an over ramp because it’s a really busy place,” she said.
“It’s a really dangerous crossing.”
Ms Green said Flynns Beach was the best beach in Port Macquarie.
Port Macquarie resident Les Sexton would like to see better signs to slow down motorists on Tuppenny Road.
He also would like any graffiti to be removed as soon as possible.
More than 150 people provided formal feedback across the three pop-up sessions.
The council has also received strong online feedback.
Up to 24 community members will work together on March 24 to prepare a draft master plan.
People can have their say or register their interest in taking part in the community think tank at pmhc.nsw.gov.au/flynns-beach before April 3 or call the council on 6581 8111.
