But next month, on Sunday April 8, she will lose her crowning glory in the World’s Greatest Shave to beat blood cancer.  

Also, Amahli will donate her hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit organisation that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering form long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Her mother, Karina is very proud of Amahli.  

“She told me: ‘How awesome that a little girl would be able to feel so special in a wig made of real curls.’

“In the first five days, Amahli raised $1,600 on the World’s Great Shave page.  Because she’s a child, her bravery is pulling at people’s heartstrings,” said Karina.

The little girl from King Creek was inspired to take part in the World’s Greatest Shave when she heard that one her teachers at Tacking Point Public School is taking part.

“I’m a little bit nervous, but I really want to help other children,” said Amahli.

Blood cancer claims more lives in Australia than breast cancer or melanoma, and every day, another 35 people are given the devastating news that they have leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or another blood disorder.

The Leukaemia Foundation helps people in hospital, by giving them the extra support they need.

Amahli’s big shave will be on Sunday April 8 at the community centre of the church she attends, Honour Church at Lake Innes in Port Macquarie.
