Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as Macquarie progressed to both the Mid North Coast Premier Cricket League and second grade grand finals.

Macca second grade captain Craig Roser (58 not out) led from the front as his side chased down 203 with just six balls to spare at Oxley Oval.

First grade counterpart Josh Hyde (69 and 6-23) did likewise at Wayne Richards Park as Wauchope RSL’s campaign was brought to an end.

Hyde won the toss and elected to bat first on a good deck as Macquarie set Wauchope 207 to win.

Scott Witchard (63) and Chris Cole (33) contributed before Hyde did the damage with the ball.

Macquarie captain Josh Hyde said it was a complete team performance.

“It was our most impressive batting performance all year,” he said.

“Coley batted well in the middle of the innings and Scotty Witchard was really impressive with the way he batted.

“Wauchope toiled really hard, so full credit to them.”

RSL fell 37 runs short despite the best efforts of Aaron Hagenbach (42), Robbie Parker (28), Isaac King (26) and captain Matt Day (22).

“Ultimately they were too good on the day,” Day said.

“Josh was outstanding and didn’t give very many chances, but we’ll take a lot out of the season.”
