A total of $30,000 was donated under the bank’s centenary grant scheme.
It was presented to the hospital’s special care nursery.
The donation is one of a total of 1000 grants each valued at $10,000 being distributed throughout Australia.
Ms Tierney said the unit was ‘extremely grateful’ for the donation.
“Our Maternity Unit staff are humbled by the support provided to our patients by the CommBank Foundation’s Centenary of Giving program,” she said.
“This extremely welcomed donation will make a huge difference to patient comfort and safety as it will wholly fund a new birthing bed for the unit.
“The fully electronic, fully adjustable state-of-the-art equipment helps support the mother during birthing, and improves functionality for midwifery staff throughout all stages of the birthing process.
“We are so very fortunate to have the Commonwealth Bank fund this important piece of equipment.
“Thank you doesn’t seem sufficient, but we are extremely grateful.”
Wauchope branch manager Lauren Pye said the inspiring and far reaching impact of the work undertaken by the special care nursery was a crucial factor in it receiving the grant.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support organisations like Special Care Nursery in the important work they do for our local community,” Ms Pye said.
“It’s especially meaningful that we are able to celebrate 100 years of employee giving, by nominating an organisation to receive a Centenary Grant in our local community.”
