While no one kept an official score, the Vikings scored seven tries to two in a dominant performance.

“It’s a trial game; the result wasn’t important because it was about how the players executed in a game situation,” Henry said.

Usual suspects such as Hamish and Adam McCormack, Tom Woods, David Tunstead and Jeremy Segol were all impressive.

The match allowed Henry to rotate a squad of 30 throughout the match although he said it was a double-edged sword.

“Some things have become a little clearer before round one, while others have become a bit clouded,” he said.

“I know we’ve got a lot of very good footy players in our squad and we know we will have a lot of depth in every position.”

Reserve grade stand to benefit from the depth in the club, with their side aiming for five-straight premierships.

“We’ve got seven or eight players in our outside backs to fit into four spots and they’re all capable,” Henry said.

“That means we’ll have some very good players playing reserve grade, but you need to have that pressure on your top 15.”

Henry said the club would also have options in the halves with more players to come back in coming weeks.

“We probably had another five or six top grade players who didn’t play last weekend,” he said.
