They are holding an Open Day this Saturday, March 17, at the Rotary Youth Hall at Bain Park, where they will be making quilts for residents of Hastings Court Lodge and a quilt for the Palliative Care Unit at the Wauchope Memorial hospital.
Members of the group will attempt to complete making a quilt on the day like the one pictured – this will prove to be a real challenge indeed.
Members of the community are invited to join in the celebration by visiting the group, and perhaps join in the making of the quilts (you don’t need to be a patchworker!) or just see what patchworking and quilting are all about.
“Without using scissors we can cut fabric – come and see us perform ‘magic’,” said Helen Clunes.
People new to the community or anyone interested in patchwork and quilting, whether a beginner or experienced, will be most welcome to visit between 9.00am and 3.00pm and perhaps even decide to join the group.
It meets weekly at the hall on Tuesdays between 5.30pm and 9.00pm or on Thursdays between 9.00am and 1.00pm.
