In a match they would have expected to win, Josh Hyde’s men stumbled in a loss to Port City Leagues Magpies.
While disappointed to hit a hurdle so close to the finals, Hyde was focused on bouncing back against Nulla this weekend.
“Last week was a tough one for us and a few things didn’t go our way, but that’s cricket,” Hyde said.
“We probably went through the motions a little bit, but it was a good learning curve ahead of the finals.”
Hyde wants his side to be more ruthless, particularly with the ball after last weekend’s match which was “one of those days.”
“We didn’t bat that poorly, it was just one of those games where we didn’t react that well when things didn’t go as well with the ball,” he said.
“We need to dominate with the ball like we’ve been doing for most of the year.”
Hyde said it was important to bounce back because heading into the post-season on the back of two-straight losses was not ideal.
“After the year we’ve had we don’t want to lose the minor premiership or go into the finals on the back of two losses,” he said.
Rovers spin options are likely to pose some questions for the Macquarie top order should they navigate their way past Nick Clarke.
“Their spin options are very good and Ben Taylor is a very good leg spinner,” Hyde said.
“We also haven’t faced Nick Clarke this year, so he’ll be a challenge for our batsmen.”
First ball at South West Rocks Oval is at 1.30pm on Saturday.
