Registrations remain open for this year’s event, rescheduled due to wet weather to Friday, May 4 at Port City Bowling Club.
The afternoon will kick off with a free barbecue and complimentary drink for all participants from 12 noon, with the bowling beginning at 1pm.
Great prizes are up for grabs in a number of novelty events including best dressed team, best looking toes and fanciest feet.
A team of four players is $120.
Since the Mayor’s Sporting Fund’s inception back in 1999, over $300,000 has been raised and distributed to young local athletes of the Port Macquarie-Hastings to assist them to compete at elite sporting events.
Some of the region’s local athletes who have benefited from funding have gone on to represent Australia, including Olympian James Magnussen and Paralympian Ryley Batt.
“This is the 12th consecutive year that the annual bowls day challenge has been held, and it is a great way for community groups and local businesses to get together for a fun afternoon whilst raising money to assist our region’s young rising sporting stars,” Mayor’s Sporting Fund sub committee member Sue Reid said.
The event is supported by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Triple M & Hit FM, PRIME7, Port Macquarie News and Express & Wauchope Sports & Trophies.
This event is the first of three fund raising events conducted by the Mayor’s Sporting Fund throughout the calendar year.
