He’s so much more than just a famous face, his company Cooley Auctions completes around 5000 auctions a year, with Damian personally overseeing 2000 of them.
Damien won the 2015 and 2013 Auctioneer of the Year at the Real Estate Business Awards as well as the 2013 REINSW Award for Excellence.
Damian has been invited to Port Macquarie to run the upcoming auction with Elders Real Estate by long-term business friend and Elders principal David Gray. The auction takes place on Sunday, March 18 with 19 properties going under the hammer that day.
Damien has a long history with the Elders brand, while still at school, he did work experience with Elders Wagga, then his first job was with Elders Randwick. In fact, his first win on The Block was with Elders Manley.
It’s great to work with a team who know how to run an auction.

Damien says he is looking forward to working with the Elders Real Estate team here at Port Macquarie.
“They are a terrific team on the up,” he says.
The benefits of taking your home to auction are many Damien tells us.
Firstly, it creates an urgency around the sale. The auction date signals the end of the marketing campaign so it can reduce the number of days your property is on the market.
Damien says auctions create three chances for you to sell your property:
- If the buyer gets a solid offer, the property can sell before the auction
- If there’s good interest, it can capitalise on a competitive environment and be sold at auction.
- If it doesn’t sell on auction day, it just goes to the next stage in the selling process.
Damien says there are benefits for buyers too. Auctions offer transparency, it’s all done in a public forum so you can see who you are up against.
“If you think properties going to auction sell for a high price, this often isn’t the case,” he says.
So put a date in your diary for March 18 and head to Rydges Hotel to place your bid.
