Men from all walks of life in the business community were out in force taking part in the fun, early morning activity, and Wayne Jackson from the Commonwealth Bank said it was an interesting experience.

“Walking in high heels is not something I have ever done before nor had I planned to do, but after a colleague of mine signed me up I decided why not,” Mr Jackson said.

“Any chance to raise awareness for family and domestic violence is a good thing and hopefully the walk today will mean men can have a more open conversation about it.”

Mr Jackson said he has a daughter and wanted to highlight the need for equality.

“I have a daughter and I want her to grow up having the same opportunities as men,” he said.

Kelly King, president of the Hastings Business Women’s Network (HBWN) said the event was a huge success and a great lead up event to International Women’s Day on March, 8.

“Our Men in Heels event was a great success and it was fantastic to see so many business men from all walks of life coming together to show their support for the cause,” Mrs King said.

“With the overwhelming support we received we are definitely planning on doing the event next year.”

International Women’s Day is on March 8 and the HBWN are hosting a breakfast at Port Panthers with limited tickets still available.
