With just two matches left of their season, Matt Day’s side remain an outside chance of finals.
A last-round bye could prove the difference as they look to sneak into the post-season.
“We’re probably one game short,” he said.
Wauchope clash with fourth-placed Nulla at South Kempsey Oval on Saturday in another match they simply must win.
The captain remains realistic enough to know two wins from their remaining matches is unlikely to be enough, but they will keep fighting.
“We’ve got to still think we’re a chance of making the finals,” he said.
“We’re 99 per cent out of it, but we’ve also got that one per cent chance where if we win both games we’ll end up on 61 points and it might be enough.
“It could come down to percentages so it’s also a good opportunity for blokes to go out and score a fifty or a hundred and move towards next year.”
They will have one eye on next season and want to finish their current campaign on a high.
“We’d like to build off the back of last week and move forward because we were pretty good,” Day said.
