A perfect example of this occurred last week when council announced a new ferry SMS notification service will commence on March 1, 2018.
The new service means North Shore residents, and other regular users of our ferries can now be informed quickly, and kept in the loop when disruptions occur.
For some time, requests for a better way to communicate ferry outages have been made by the community.
Local North Shore residents feel the impact of ferry outages the most, and I’m pleased we now have a great solution in place.
So, I encourage our community to please reach out, chat to council staff through our Customer Service Centres in Laurieton, Port Macquarie and Wauchope.
Contact your councillors, we’re here to help and like you, and only want the best for our growing community.
Residents who wish to receive SMS notifications regarding the Port Macquarie ferries, can subscribe to the service at any time by visiting Council’s website at pmhc.nsw.gov.au/ferry-sms.
NSW Junior State Touch Football success
Each year when the NSW Junior State Touch Football comes to town I’m amazed at the sheer numbers of kids who travel with their families to visit our region to compete for the title.
Some 349 teams, and more than 16,000 players, parents and staff, converged on Port Macquarie over the weekend.
The result is expected to be an injection of more than $8 million into our local economy.
I’m blown away by the talent, sportsmanship and enthusiasm these kids display, and look forward to the new format of the junior event returning to our region each year until 2021.
A big congratulations to all the players, volunteers and event organisers.
It was another fantastic weekend of touch football in what were very warm conditions.
