Spokesperson Ian Rosendahl said the event had taken a break but was now back on deck and looking forward to catching up with their many friends.

“After a break that turned out to be a little longer than expected, the Big Red Bus is back at Town Beach Reserve on Tuesday afternoons,” he said.

“We will be providing free food and drinks, and a space for people to sit and relax and enjoy a chat and some good company.  

“After so long away, the team is excited to get under way again, and it was great to see so many familiar faces and to get to meet lots of new people as well.”

Beach Hangout is on every Tuesday afternoon from 3pm until 5pm during the school terms, and everyone is welcome. 

Mr Rosendahl also thanked the ‘amazing volunteers and sponsors’ who made Christmas breakfast on the beach a successful end to 2017.

“It was great to be able to be up and running in time for the important community event,” he said.

“Creating space for people to get together is what the bus is all about. To be able to do that at Christmas time was very special.”
