Teens, if you dream of the glitz and glamour of being in a beauty pageant, now is your chance with one of the 2018 Miss Teen Australia heats being held in Port Macquarie on March 24, at Port Panthers.

The competition is open to girls aged 13-19 years old, who live anywhere from Newcastle to Coffs Harbour and out west to Tamworth.

Vicki Carnes from Victoria’s Model Agency and Mandy Davidson from Maverique Events are hosting the Port Macquarie heat, and said they are proud to be a part of the largest teen beauty pageant in the southern hemisphere and are excited to bring such a prestigious competition to their local community.

“We have some gorgeous ladies in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area and I am always being asked if there are any competitions like this ladies can sign up for,” Ms Carnes said.

“The categories for the regional heat in March are 13-15 year old girls who will be competing for Junior Miss Teen Australia, and 16-19 year old girls who will be competing for Miss Teen Australia.

“The competitors will enter into three different categories; casual wear, formal wear and sportswear for the juniors; and casual wear, formal wear and swimwear for the seniors.”

Ms Carnes also said the highly regarded competition has resulted in many young girls following their dreams of walking the runways nationally and internationally in fashion shows, and even going on to careers in acting.

“The competition offers girls the perfect opportunity to be able to step up on stage in front of a crowd and overcome anxiety and fears, to comfortably embrace who they are, and to do so in a public platform is a wonderful tool for personal development and a huge asset for them to take through life,” she said.

Ms Davidson said the prizes for the winners are extraordinary.

“The regional heat will be followed by the state finals in Sydney in April, and the national finals in Townsville in May,” Ms Davidson said.

“The national winner of the juniors will win a trip for two to Fiji, and the senior prize is soon to be revealed with potential trips to Singapore and the United States as prize contenders.”
