NSW Rural Fire Service Midcoast District group officer Paul Mesher was successful in his application through the Association Special Grant Scheme.
The service has received five 40lt Engel fridges, drop down sliders and thermal covers to the value of $11,320 for the district’s group officers vehicles.
“Access to cool water on the fire ground is paramount in the prevention of dehydration and dealing with heat stroke,” Paul said.
“Fridges in vehicles will enhance the first aid procedures currently in place.”
RFSA Hastings Branch chairperson Steven Taylor said Paul’s Special Grant Scheme application was viewed as a highly valuable investment for the Hastings District members’ safety.
“Supporting our members to protect the community is not just a slogan, we take this seriously,” he said.
The items were purchased locally from Midcoast 4WD Centre.
