After a three-year exodus from national duties, the 34-year-old earned a shock recall during the ODI series against England when Chris Lynn was ruled out with injury.

Initially named in the middle order and then promoted to No.3, White made scores of 15 not out, 17 and three before being axed in favour of Glenn Maxwell for the final match in Perth.

While not the only poor contributor during the 4-1 series defeat, White will lament failing to convert his outstanding domestic form to the national stage ahead of the 2019 World Cup.

"After being dropped from the last game it's probably unlikely (I'll get another chance) but I'm not really sure, to be honest," White said on Wednesday.

"I definitely feel as though I've missed a chance.

"I batted down the order in that first game and then had two cracks at No.3 and obviously didn't get a score.

"Any time you get an opportunity like that and then don't nail a big score, it's a missed opportunity."

White had a brief conversation with Trevor Hohns on Wednesday but admitted he was unsure where he stood in the selection chairman's thinking.

Australia will head to England in June for five ODIs with selectors eager to put together a settled team before the World Cup.

Beyond captaining Melbourne Renegades in the BBL finals, White - who was overlooked in the IPL auction - is unlikely to play any white-ball cricket until September's domestic one-day competition.

"We will be trying (in June) to get a unit together that hopefully can play together and stay together leading into the World Cup," Hohns told SEN radio on Tuesday.

"Of course form will dictate what happens there but we'll clearly be looking at that.

"I think there's still 20 or more one-day games for us to play between now an them so hopefully they can stick together and gel together as a unit and start to play well."
