The lucky kids were there for the Newcastle Jets versus Wellington Phoenix Hyundai A-League match where they created a tunnel for the Jets as they ran onto the field for warm ups. It’s something the Jets do often giving mascot status to different juniors up and down the coast.
They were also allowed on the field at half time, playing a mini match on the same turf as their favourite players. They were given a tour of the facilities, and even had a sneak peak inside the locker rooms.
It was a nice coincidence for the club, who happened to be selected for the special honour on the same day that Port Macquarie’s Angus Thurgate played for 25 minutes off the bench for the Jets.
