I was pleased to have Minister for Racing Paul Toole join me in the electorate last Friday to announce a $33,000 grant for Port Macquarie Marine Rescue.
The funding will be used to replace the main roller shutter door at the service’s boatshed where the PM30 high-powered sea-going vessel is housed.
There will also be new slipway rails for the secondary emergency vessel that carries out rescues in the Hastings River and local beaches in coordination with local surf life saving clubs.
The grant will also provide extra first aid training equipment.
This important project will support the wonderful efforts of volunteers who give up so much of their time to protect and save lives in local waterways.
Active Kids countdown
There are only a couple of weeks remaining until parents can claim a $100 voucher for their school-enrolled children thanks to the NSW Government’s new Active Kids program.
Through the program, parents, carers and guardians across NSW can claim a $100 voucher towards the registration and participation costs of sport and active recreation activities for their children.
From January 31, parents, guardians and carers of children residing and participating in sport and other approved physical activities in NSW can apply for the voucher online through their MyServiceNSW account, and then redeem the voucher at their local sporting club or approved provider.
Whether your child participates in summer or winter sports or activities, Active Kids vouchers can be used until December 31, so there is no rush to claim.
We want every child in NSW to be able to use their voucher, so we encourage parents to speak to their local club about registering to be an approved provider.
