There are no handicap results until after the third race has been sailed. The catamaran fleet had a good turn up after many of the Arrow cats had just returned from the National titles at Saratoga where Frank O’Rourke on Dino came second again this year, and Rohan Nosworthy on return was third.
However, on Sunday, Tony Kuhn on Stella took the win on yardstick ahead of Jack Corthals on Harpic, Rob Barwick on Drift, and Dave Winter on Spica.
The monohulls had a lot of close on-water racing, especially between Terry Howard in Ratz and Phil and Blake Lillehagen in Elmo.
Once the yardsticks were applied, Ratz got first place, Tony Walker in Deep Purple snuck into second just 23 seconds ahead of Elmo in third.
They were followed by Stuart Symons and Steve Couch in Big Bang, and Jane Cooper and Norman Broomhall in Jupiter.
This Sunday (January 14) is race two of the summer series with a 2pm start. Help is needed for the duty.
