According to club president Marjie Utley, the club is a real blessing to a large number of people.
“We have members from all walks of life who just want to be a part of a social club and with so many activities people can take part in, there is definitely something for everyone,” Mrs Utley said.
A range of dance classes, lawn bowls, table tennis and cards, along with embroidery, tapestry and darts are just a few of the activities you will always find a friendly face to talk to.
“The club is about friendship and company and about keeping people active both mentally and physically.
“We have some members who just come in for a chat and a cup of tea and we have others who go from a morning of dancing to ping pong in the afternoon,” she said.
One member, Eric Wilkinson said it was a place that couples and singles could come and be accepted into the folds of the club.
“There are so many activities to keep your mind and body active, I love the dancing classes but I have friends who do lots of other activities.
“I tell people there is no reason they should be sitting at home watching the television by themselves because we are a bunch of fun, friendly people who are always up for a social activity or a chat,” Mr Wilkinson said.
Mrs Utley also said that the club is adding new activities to the jam-packed schedule.
“We are always adding new things to the regular club activities list and we are always looking for more people to lead activities, so if you don’t see something you like we could add the activity absolutely.
“We are also always looking for input from our members to make sure they are enjoying the activities we have,” she said.
