Coach Dan Kemp said while the main focus was on returning to the training paddock after a couple of months off, he’s been impressed.
In stark contrast to last year where they had a significant player turnover, it’s more of the same from the back-to-back Group 3 premiers.
While they have only lost three players from their 2017 title-winning success, negotiations are advanced for a couple of key signings.
Kemp admitted it had been quiet on the western front and it wasn’t a case of things going too well.
“I don’t think it can be a bad thing,” he said.
“We’re genuinely excited to keep all the guys we have because last year it was the opposite.”
The Breakers coach admitted the challenge for his side would be on improving the “one-percenters” which they did so well this season.
“We want to improve on every facet of our footy club and if we can do that you cross your fingers and hope for the best results,” he said.
“At this early stage we’re training better than we were this time last year.”
