Across the Port Macquarie Hastings, eight hampers (four at each charity) were donated to the Port Macquarie Women’s Refugee and Salvation Army.
Hampers were collected from the Morton Street, Greenmeadows, Laurieton and Wauchope day centres; the Port Macquarie, Laurieton and Wauchope Meals on Wheels branches and Hastings Home Modifications.
Further afield the other Omnicare Alliance offices also donated to local causes, with Kempsey Samaritans the beneficiary of a hamper from the Kempsey Meals on Wheels branch and Parklands Cottage.
The Men’s Resource Centre in Sawtell received a hamper from Sawtell Meals on Wheels, while Good Samaritans Taree received a hamper from Taree Meals on Wheels. Forster Meals on Wheels supported their local Women’s Refuge.
Omnicare Alliance CEO John Carroll was thrilled with the response from staff, volunteers and clients.
“As this is the first year as a newly merged company, we decided to support local families who needed a helping hand this Christmas,” Mr Carroll said.
“The best way to do this, we thought, was through Christmas hampers.
“All of our staff, volunteers and clients got right behind the initiative, and now we have 12 overflowing Christmas Hampers to go to families in our communities.
“This will certainly become a Christmas tradition each year.”
Omnicare Alliance is one of the largest community aged and disability care support providers on the Mid North Coast, following the merger between four local not-for profits – Hastings District Respite Care, Meals on Wheels MNC, Hastings Home Modifications and Parklands Cottage.
Omnicare Alliance provides services to the communities in Port Macquarie, Sawtell, Kempsey, Wauchope, Camden Haven, Taree and the Greater Lakes.
