Community spirit and making a connection with other schools was behind the initiative by students involved in project-based learning.
“Each Christmas we do something different. They laser cut the puzzles and painted them all for the preschool,” said teachers aid Tanya Porto.
“It teaches them the act of giving rather than receiving at Christmas time. It’s about giving back to other people and this is a great way of doing it.
“It’s a good feeling (giving gifts) and it’s nice for the students to feel like what they’ve done is appreciated by other people.”
Managing director of the pre-school, Nicola McKellar, said the beautiful puzzles show fantastic community connection.
“It allows us to build opportunities with our locals and we love it,” she said.
“Engaging with the community is something we work on and really value. Very often visitors to our preschool get as much out of the visit as we do.”
