It just happened to be on the same day as both teams were comprehensively outplayed on Saturday in Port Macquarie.
Josh Hyde’s men suffered their first regular season loss in two years, going down by 18 runs to Nulla at Wayne Richards Park.
And the Macquarie captain didn’t miss his side when asked what went wrong.
“We didn’t deserve to win with the way we batted,” he said.
“The pitch kept a bit low when were chasing, but we were really ordinary.”
Nulla batted first and compiled 9-118 off their 40 overs – a total Hyde thought would take some chasing.
“They’ve got a really good bowling attack; probably the best we’ve faced all year with Dan Morrison, Pete Morris and Ben Taylor,” Hyde said.
“I thought 120-130 was going to be really difficult to chase and they’re one of those sides that dig in and don’t go away.
It might give a few of us a kick up the ass; we just weren't good enough.

“We played a few loose shots because we didn’t want to get bogged down like they did, but they hung around.”
The last time Macquarie lost a match was the grand final to Wauchope in the 2015-2016 season.
“It might give a few of us the kick up the ass,” Hyde said.
“We just weren’t good enough.”
Liam Coelho and Tom Salter provided rare highlights with the ball, while Scott Witchard was the shining light with the bat.
Port City Leagues Magpies captain Gordon Scott admitted a lack of game time played a part in their seven-wicket loss to Wingham at Oxley Oval.
“We got our pants pulled down; we were really rusty,” he said.
“Some of the people who were watching from the sideline said we looked like we hadn’t played for three weeks.”
Jesse Schmidt (42) was the standout as Magpies scratched to 112 all out after they batted first.
Wingham had no trouble chasing the target down in the 27th over for the loss of three wickets.

“It was just one of those days; it was a combination between our really poor batting and their good bowling,” Scott said.
“Jesse batted really well and we said after the game that if only two or three of the top six had have hung around with him it could have been a different story.”
Scott admitted his team’s confidence had played a negative role in the performance.
“Sometimes you need to have a loss like this because in a way we were a bit cocky,” he said.
While Brendan Badenoch didn’t claim the figures with the ball, Scott said it was the best he had seen him bowl.
“I was standing a full pitch length behind the stumps and was still taking the ball about neck height,” Scott said.
“He bowled really quick; I think he’s on the way back.”
