Hastings Secondary College welcomed year six students from local primary schools including Port Primary, Tacking Point Public and Wauchope Public School.
Westport campus principal, Ian Ross, said the transition from primary to secondary school is an exciting and important time for students and their families.
The principal leadership team welcomed students and spoke about the next stage in their educational journey.
Students participated in real-time school activities, made new friends, met their teachers as well as familiarised themselves with their campus environment.
Students engaged in a variety of lessons accompanied by their peer support leaders from both campuses.
Visual Arts, Creative Industries and Hospitality offered hands-on learning and science experiments were thought-provoking.
Students also gained an insight into history, music, metalwork and physical education.
They practiced using timetables, moving between classes to bells and were introduced to the merit award system.
Year seven students will commence their first day on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
