If you’re looking to brighten your day or take the kids somewhere other than the beach over summer, the Neon Summer festival at the Glasshouse is a great opportunity to check out some amazing art ‘activations’ and immerse yourself in some creative fun.

The Neon Summer exhibition explores how contemporary art can inspire our imagination by creating a dazzling world through vivid colour, magnificent form and breathtaking fantasy.

Featuring work by internationally recognised artists, the festival will include lots of fun activities including drawing, painting and craft workshops, a family fun weekend, events, and much more.

So head to the Glasshouse from December to early February to experience an extravaganza of colour and creativity this summer.

The exhibition is co-funded by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council in partnership with the Australian Government’s Building Our Future program.

Beach safety reminder

The warmer weather is well and truly here, and heading to the beach with family and friends is often top of the list for getting out and enjoying the sunshine.

Whether it’s a Christmas barbecue at Flynns Beach, a surf at Town Beach or a quick dip at Bonny Hills, it’s important we take care and stay safe at the beach.

Our professional lifeguards and volunteer surf life savers will patrol seven days a week throughout the summer period across six beaches, helping to keep us safe.

While they do a fantastic job, there’s a few simple things we can all do to ensure we stay safe such as swimming between the flags, following beach signage and instructions, keeping an eye out for rips, staying hydrated and making sure you slip, slop and slap.

So please take care and look out for each other while enjoying a long summer of beach fun!
