The community has been abuzz with news Stage 1 of the Sovereign Hills Town Centre is coming, with construction proposed to commence early next year and anticipated to wrap up before Christmas 2019.
The development will form the centrepiece of the fast-growing community and include a full-line IGA supermarket incorporating hardware and liquor, a medical centre and Your Discount Chemist, supported by speciality stores, a superior food offering and interactive social spaces.
As the developer of the Sovereign Hills community Lewis Land Group (LLG) explained - this is just the beginning.
“We are extremely excited to reveal the first stage of our highly anticipated Town Centre development,” LLG chief executive officer Chris Calvert stated.
“This development will be modern, it will feature a contemporary layout and will be designed around a central theme of the outdoor shopping experience.
“We also look forward to growing our Town Centre in stages to more than 25,000sq.m as we add community and entertainment facilities, and expand our retail offering, to support the growing Sovereign Hills and Hastings communities.”
The town centre will be located on the corner of John Oxley Drive and Main Street, in the heart of the master planned community, and just minutes from the door of local resident Rosheen Enriquez.
“It’s the convenience of having the shops just there,” enthused the mother of two young children. “It’s nice to have those options opening up out here, even though we’re just 10 minutes from the Port Macquarie CBD.”
Hastings Co-op chief executive officer Allan Gordon said they were proud to be part of such an exciting development.
“When complete, we expect to create around 100 new jobs from management to entry level positions right throughout the store,” Mr Gordon shared.
Port Macquarie Hastings Mayor Peta Pinson was among the first to view the architectural plans.
“It’s a great day for our community, it’s an excellent day for Lewis Land Group and it’s wonderful that they’ve chosen the IGA being a local operator in the Hastings Co-op,” Mayor Pinson said.
LLG has pioneered Australia’s outdoor retail outlet experience, having developed Harbour Town on the Gold Coast and in Adelaide.
The Sovereign Hills town centre development is set to provide a local economic boost, providing employment both during and post the construction phase.
“This is in line with Lewis Land Group’s commitment to providing a community where residents can live, work, play – and perhaps most importantly grow with us,” added Mr Calvert.
