Aged just 20 and 21 respectively, Jack Baetge and Nathan Robinson say they would describe their music as the “sound of Port Macquaire”.
“We are chilled out guys, and I think our music is pretty positive, we rap about stuff that we grew up doing around the area,” Mr Baetge said.
The duo began making music when they were in high school and say persistence is key.
“Persistence and passion is definitely the key, going from school kids to playing at FOTSUN is crazy but I think we have both worked hard to achieve what we can, and we love what we do so much, which helps.
“In the beginning we were both making music but weren’t getting anywhere on their own, so we decided that we had nothing to lose and everything to gain by joining together, and we haven’t looked back since.
“We are still doing the same thing we were doing back then, but I think because we have been doing it for so long now, and have the passion for it, we have gone out of our way to find out how to make it become something more legitimate,” he said.
Mr Baetge said that in the age of social media and streaming music now is the time for emerging artists to come in to a space of their own.
“I think these days it is easier for people to create music, there are so many platforms to produce and market music, so you can be from pretty much anywhere and at the click of a button someone on the other side of the world can instantly listen.”
Mr Baetge said that during the past year the duo have gone from strength to strength and playing at FOTSUN will be another fantastic experience.
“In the last year we both feel we have been getting our music out there, we have played every where it Port Macquarie so playing at FOTSUN will be the icing on the cake for us in the local area and it is definitely onwards and upwards for ManicSOUL.”
