It is very positive from the Friends of Kooloonbung viewpoint to see the park getting extra attention and funds pumped into this very important enviromental asset. Visually it is easy to see the updates and improvements of signs, pathways, drinking fountain, double barbecue, a lizard sculpture, an outdoor lending library, new seating etc, all wheelchair friendly.
There has also been a team from ETC managed in Kooloonbung by Walker Coull, and overseen by council’s Parks and Recreation projects officer Mike Olzomer, working on the western side of Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park.
The work is appreciated by the public, which can see vast improvements in pathways, boardwalks, seating, pathway edges and repairing of eroded areas.
Mr Coull is a mentor in work skills training and work ethics, and his past experience and management skills help given a well-rounded base training to the team.
The work is not easy with heavy loads transported by hand or barrow. Friends of Kooloonbung thank Walker Coull for his team’s fine effort to make it safer on pathways, and mitigating erosion now and for the future.
Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park is a fine environmental asset in the middle of Port Macquarie. If you are in involved in a group that would like to arrange a guided tour, call phone Rex Moir on 0429 680 131.
