Rod O’Malley’s ponies were a hit with aged care residents on Friday, October 27. The visit was designed to bring happiness and joy and act as a gentle therapeutic activity.
Mr O’Malley runs Learn from Horses at Wauchope. His farm is specially designed to cater for youth needing direction or encouragement.
“The kids come out and learn life skills they might not get from other places,” Mr O’Malley said.
“Lots of kids learn how to communicate better, improve their confidence, self esteem and how to control their emotions just by coming out to work with the horses.”
The visit to Bethany was his first to an aged care facility.
“Today is all about happiness and joy.”
