Expressions of interest are being sought for events and activities that will attract locals and visitors, provide a great community atmosphere and really bring the space to life.
The upgrade to the Town Square provides a versatile space that can continue to be used for central car parking, and also transformed to accommodate events, business activities and community celebrations.
“Council acknowledges this space is valued by our community, both in terms of providing central parking but also for community events, celebrations and commemorations like Countdown to Christmas and Anzac Day,” said council director Jeffery Sharp.
“With upgrade works on the Town Square and Town Green in the final stages, we’re looking to support a range of events in coming months that are fun, engaging and vibrant to activate the space on a more regular basis. The only limit is your imagination, and we’d love to see as many ideas as possible.
“We’re also looking for ideas that might extend beyond the summer period and become regular drawcards for locals and visitors to the Port Macquarie CBD,” Mr Sharp said.
Groups, organisations and individuals can apply to council to hold an event or activity, with the successful ideas receiving assistance from council.
This includes obtaining the necessary approvals and helping with the required paperwork. Council will also actively promote the event or activity to assist in making it a success.
The community can submit ideas at pmhc.nsw.gov.au/town-square-events or by calling council on 6581 8111.
