He plans on doing it for as long as he can because of the satisfaction he gets out of it.
“I get such a kick out of watching people get out in the surf,” he said.
“These people aren’t usually going to get a chance to do something like this, but we give them that chance.”
Brownsberger said he couldn’t put into words the feeling he has when the disabled surfers hit the water.
“We can put smiles on people’s faces and we want them to have fun; we take anybody,” he said.
“They could be five years old, or they could be 105 years old. It doesn’t matter.”
He said “if you’re not smiling when you’re out there helping these people, you're doing it wrong.”
“I’ll keep doing this until I can no longer do it any more,” he said.
The first session of the season starts at Flynns Beach on Saturday from 8.45am.
“We encourage anyone and everyone to turn up,” Brownsberger said.
“Everybody gets a go.”
