Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, said $2.8 million has been allocated to improve the roadway between King Creek Road and Randall Street - on which 10,000 motorists drive each day.
“Work will involve 2.5 kilometres of resurfacing to provide a stronger, longer lasting and safer roadway,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The NSW Government is funding the work as part of its $1.5 billion annual maintenance program.”
To reduce the impact to the community, work will be carried out at night between 7pm and 5am, excluding Saturdays, and will take around 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
“Work will start near King Creek Road before moving west.
“For the work to be carried out as safely and efficiently as possible, the Oxley Highway will be closed between King Creek Road and Randall Street during these work hours.
“However, access will be maintained for emergency services and heavy vehicles.
“A sign posted detour will be in place via King Creek Road.
“In anticipation, I thank the community for its forbearance," Mrs Pavey said.
