Not only does illegal dumping pollute our beautiful environment and is extremely unsightly, it poses real health risks, and ends up costing our community money and valuable resources to clean up.

More than 100 tonnes of waste was dumped illegally in our region last year, with white-goods, furniture and building waste topping the list of the most commonly dumped items.

Council takes illegal dumping extremely seriously and through the assistance of a $147,000 Environment Protection Agency (EPA) grant will be cleaning up more than 300 known dumping sites across our region in the coming months.

We’ll also be installing prevention measures and surveillance and running education programs to help everyone understand the impacts.

We’re urging everyone, to support the don’t be a dumper campaign and would appreciate you completing a 10 minute survey to help us determine what preventative measures to focus on.
