Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has created banks at the Lake Cathie Reserve to help provide access to the water during the school holidays.

On September 22 resident Glyn Jones took photos of the work in progress at the Lake Cathie Reserve.
A spokesperson from the council said the sandy banks were created for the community to easily access the water.
Temporary fencing is in place at the Lake Cathie Reserve due to erosion at the site.

The lake is also currently closed to the ocean with local businesses calling on council to review its lake opening strategy.
