The Port Macquarie cyclist admitted the last 12 months had fallen short of her expectations.
As she reflected, she was grateful to have been a part of the WM3 Pro Cycling team for 2017 and for the experience.
“I’m heading back home to to refresh and prepare for the 2018 season with a new motivation and spark having joined FDJ for 2018,” she said.
“As they say you should never stop moving and experiencing new things in life and for me this was a chance I jumped at with open arms.”
Kitchen said she had been keeping a close eye on her new team’s progress as they stepped up to the top levels of the world tour.
”I will be one of two Australians in the squad with a majority of French riders,” she said.
“Shara Gillow, my fellow countryman is a long-time friend and is one of the team leaders and is coming off the back of a very successful 2017 season with the squad.”
The 26-year-old was looking forward to embracing the French aspect of the team and will move to their French base.
“The fantastic setup and professionalism from the team has only impressed me so far,” she said.
“In the next few months I plan on training hard, enjoying Australia, catching up with friends and family and getting more and more motivated for 2018.”
