Lara Cerlini made the move from Italy after falling in love with Port Macquarie four years ago.

IT was a student exchange program in year 11 that enticed Italian student Lara Cerlini to pack her bags for good and call Port Macquarie home.

Now calling herself a local, Lara plans on settling down on the Mid North Coast for good.

“I fell in love with Port Macquarie and decided to move here after school,” she said.

“It's mainly the people. They're so accepting and caring. Plus the lifestyle. It's a huge difference in lifestyle (compared to Italy). It's so much more relaxed here."

Today will be mostly sunny with a maximum temperature of 26 degrees, dropping to 20 at 6pm. It will be even hotter on Wednesday.

Light winds will become NW/NE at 15 to 20 kilometres an hour in the middle of the day. It will be cloudy with a small chance of rain, which will increase on Wednesday where we are likely to see showers.
