Some 281 respondents thought terminally ill people should have the legal choice of voluntary assisted dying, 10 disagreed and two were unsure.
The Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017 is due to come before NSW Parliament later this year.
Dying with Dignity advocate Janet Cohen has shared her experience to add to the call for political change.
Janet urges the community to voice their opinions to local politicians, as does MidNorth Coast Dying with Dignity NSW.
Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams is also encouraging people to share their views on the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017.
People can share their opinions by filling out a survey on Mrs Williams’ webpage.
The Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017, if supported, would establish a right for terminally ill NSW residents over the age of 25 to request and receive assistance to end their lives voluntarily.
