The $34,405.54 has been committed for Mid-North Coast support services through the Department of Veteran Affairs’ Building Excellence in Support and Training Grants.

The funds will be awarded to the Vietnam Veterans’ Peacekeepers & Peacemakers Association of Australia (NSW Branch) Inc. – Hastings, Manning, Macleay Branch.

Nationals Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker welcomed the additional funding and believes it will positively impact the delivery of services to our community’s veterans.

“The quality of life for our returning service men and women is incredibly important and the amount or style of support needed by each former service person is different,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“Some of our returning service personnel need far more support than others, and so our support services need to be flexible in order to adapt to the needs of the individual.

“This Federal Government funding will allow these organisations who do fantastic work for the veterans in our communities to provide better, targeted support.

“Because of the wide range of possible needs, creating the right support package can be a complicated and time-consuming task but we owe it to our veterans to get it right.

“These funds contribute to the training costs of these organisations in order to ensure their staff are trained and equipped to provide the best service to their clients.

“The better the standard of service that our veterans receive from their support services, the more likely they are to achieve positive outcomes.”
