Mr Rogers will finish up in late October.
Mr Rogers started his career with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council as a trainee and progressed to the position of natural resources manager before his appointment as development and environment director in 2008.
The council will start the recruitment process for the development and environment director position in the coming weeks.
The development and environment division covers development assessment, environmental services, recreation and buildings, and regulatory services.
Meanwhile, the council is also advertising the infrastructure director position.
The infrastructure director role became vacant after the council adopted a revised organisation structure.
The revised council structure has been in force since May 1, 2017.
