A councillor, under the Local Government Act, must take an oath of office or make an affirmation of office at or before the first council meeting after the councillor is elected.
Cr Pinson, who won the July 29 mayoral by-election, made the affirmation of office before the council’s general manager Craig Swift-McNair.
She presided over her first council meeting as mayor on August 16.
“Like with any job, it will take me a little bit of time to hone my skills on the formal process of running a council meeting,” she said.
Cr Pinson said the meeting agenda had complexity in it.
“We were dealing with some large items, especially in planning and development,” she said.
