This will ensure the continued operation of the Camden Haven Surf Club, and is an important milestone in ensuring the viability and growth of the club.

Camden Haven Surf Life Saving Club President, Michelle Garvan said the licence provides surety in knowing that the cub can continue to provide their life saving programs to the community.

“We are a small club with dedicated volunteers who love what they do,” she said. 

“We just want to continue to improve our club and give back to the Camden Haven community who have been so supportive.”

Council director Matt Rogers said local volunteer surf lifesaving clubs provide a vital service to the community in keeping beaches safe.

“Council is pleased to be able to have worked with the club to develop a mutually beneficial arrangement,” he said. 

As part of the licence arrangement, the kiosk at North Haven Beach will be leased out to an experienced food vendor. This will free up the CHSLSC committee to run the club.

“We’ve seen the success of the kiosks at Town Beach and north Town Beach in Port Macquarie and we’re keen to replicate that success here in the Camden Haven” Ms Garvan said. 

Mr Rogers said council is seeking to secure a licensee who can provide a high standard of food and drink service to the community.

“It’s a prime location, on one of our region’s most popular beaches, with the caravan park nearby,” he said. 

“Ideally we want the kiosk operating seven days a week during the holidays and the peak life saving season.”

The surf club building has undergone some minor renovations including concrete works, fresh paint, plumbing and lighting fit outs.

The established kitchen has stainless steel bench tops, sink and basin, roller doors with plenty of undercover space and an outdoor eating area with views overlooking North Haven Beach.
