Alan was born on July 6 1929 and passed away on July 5 2017. He served from 1968 to 2008 as the minister to the Hastings congregation of the Free Presbyterian Church.
From a Melbourne Catholic family, Alan came to the “Free Church” via the Melbourne Baptists.
After a career as a builder, he completed his ministry training and arrived in the Hastings Valley with wife Sybil and children.
Alan’s particular occupational interest was church pastoral work (across both Wauchope and the parish satellite centres).
He felt very much at home in the Hastings Valley all his life. He loved the people, the history and the unique biosphere.
Alan’s interests included woodwork, cutting surplus timber in the forests, gardening, photography and steam trains. He rode the ‘Flying Scotsman” when it passed through Wauchope.
Alan lived a very active and happy retirement despite health matters and died peacefully after a brief stay at Bundaleer Nursing Home.
