NetSetGo is a great program, designed for 5-6-7 year old’s, teaching them the very basics of netball.
The girls have had a fabulous time learning fun, interactive drills and forming new friendships where at this age it’s all about balance, co-ordination and fun.
Program co-ordinator Bec Webb said the program provided an opportunity for the kids to learn the basics of the game.
“I think the things that stood out for me were the fact that some of the girls literally could not throw or catch a ball at 5 years of age,” she said.
“They were scared of the ball, now they are all so confident.”
The older girls of the group have learnt to work well as a team, following directions from the coaching staff, and are more than ready to play games next year under the modified netball rules.
“We had so much fun and even made up our own warm up stretch called rainbow arms,” Webb said.
“With three coaches we were able to form three smaller groups.
“Each coach developed a strong bond with their teams and we looked forward to seeing them gain new skills and new found confidence each week.”
The coaches followed the official Suncorp NetSetGo drills developed by Netball Australia.
Each week they worked on five new drills to keep the girls engaged, spending only seven minutes at each drill.
After their session this Saturday, HVNA will conduct a small presentation to celebrate success with the girls.
Don’t forget the HVNA 40th Anniversary dinner on the 26 August 2017. Tickets are available at the courts on Grant Street on Saturdays and Monday nights. Any enquiries to Kim Thompson 0408 861 898
