I am hopeful that the current Port Macquarie Hastings Council and its future Mayor will develop a better sense of geography than that held currently by our Council.

Yes, Wauchope is part of the local council area and yet just $7 million has been allocated to it in the current budget (a figure provided by Councillor Intemann).
Anyone who believes that funds should be allocated on a per capita basis is overlooking the extensive road network in the Wauchope area. If the Federal government allocated funds merely on a per capita basis WA would have seceded long ago.
In particular I would like a guarantee that the circa $482,000 allocated to preliminary planning of the sports fields will actually lead to something in the foreseeable future and not disappear into thin air as did some $300,000 which was spent on plans for an indoor heated pool. Plans were drawn up by consultants and then Council changed its mind.
Council also changed its mind on a decent CBD bypass. The original plan, due for commencement in 2009, has basically become some flowerbeds, some bunting and an altered pedestrian crossing.
Council should be aware that a minor traffic accident near the railway crossing on 13 July blacked out the entire town.
I invite Councillors to travel to and from Wauchope during peak traffic times. Traffic controllers supervising road works certainly will not be one of their hold-ups.
Wauchope residents don't make a lot of demands on their Council. Reading the wish lists of some ratepayers from other areas is often like reading a child's letter to Santa Claus.
