This week the RSPCA shelter is hopping mad with rabbits in need of new homes.
There are several rabbits of various colours and temperaments to choose from.
Firstly there is Afra, a brown coated female of about 2 years of age.
She will need a home with rabbit savvy people as she can be hard to catch at times.
She is good to hold and doesn’t mind a quick cuddle, and is so soft to touch.
Afra was surrendered as her owner had no time to spend with her.
She is longest rabbit resident at the shelter and would like to have a hutch of her own and a family to care for her.
Then there is Lewis, our only male in the group. His age is unknown, but he is a full grown adult ready to be cared for.
He has is an English spot with brown and black markings. He was a stray, so his past history is unknown, but he is good to handle.
Next we have Bippity and Boppity, two lovely girls who were found together as strays. Despite being found together Boppity seems to be the dominant bunny.
Bippity is grey in colour and is a large rabbit that is good to handle and enjoys cuddles. She is okay to catch and handle.
Boppity is black and is easy to manage and catch too. She is a little quieter than her friend but also gives great cuddles.
All these rabbits need homes where they can be given the love and time they deserve as well as a weatherproof secure hutch, fresh food and water, and the opportunity to graze on grass.
If you have an existing rabbit that needs a friend you will need to introduce them to ensure they will get on.
Each rabbit is desexed, vet checked and vaccinated and will cost $40 each to adopt.
They are housed at the RSPCA shelter at 10 Karungi Crescent. The shelter is open six days a week from 10am until 3.30pm, and is closed on Tuesdays and public holidays, or call 6581 0380. All RSPCA animals can be viewed on adoptapet.com.au and click onto the Port Macquarie site.
