It especially doesn’t look good when the Cats inflicted a 5-1 defeat on Saints three days earlier.
But Goodman said the 4-0 result was not as one-sided as it seems on paper.
“If we had have converted our chances it could have been anything,” he said.
“It looks like a 4-0 drubbing on paper, but it wasn’t that bad.
“We played some really good football in patches, but we really need to score goals.”
The loss sees Saints slip out of the Football Mid North Coast Premier League top two for the first time all season on goal difference.
One point separates second from fifth and Saints have another catch-up game against Wauchope on Tuesday night which could see them move back into second.
“We really need to win against Wauchope because if we lose that and lose again next week we’ll find ourselves in sixth,” Goodman said.
